This trailing perennial goes by many common names around the world, but we prefer to call it hearts and flowers in reference to the fleshy, heart-shaped leaves and its long, prolific flowering season. The succulent stems will root wherever they are in contact with moist soil, which makes this low growing groundcover a wonderful addition to rock gardens, slopes, and containers of any size. It works beautifully in hanging baskets as well, growing quickly with minimal watering whether placed in full sun or shade. Hearts and flowers is salt tolerant and will grow in most soil types as long as it has excellent drainage. Maya is a new selection that brightens garden spaces with scores of bright pink flowers from early spring through fall.
