The Tucson Bonsai Society will present a program at Harlow Gardens on Saturday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m.until 12:30 p.m. Actual step-by-step demonstrations in creating a bonsai from Harlow nursery stock are scheduled for 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. The lecture/demonstration program will explain how the eventual bonsai is visualized and planned, the pruning and wiring methods used to develop the desired shape. A display of bonsai already trained will be exhibited. The program is free and open to the public. The Society will offer a class on the following Saturday morning, “Basics of Bonsai for Beginners”. Registrations will be taken for the class, and a payment of $40 will be required in advance. The fee includes a study kit which will be available at registration, and a one-gallon nursery plant to be provided in the class. This hands-on class will be held on Saturday morning, October 15, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at an eastside home, and taught by Society mentors.
